Adult Swim Lessons

Learn to Swim at Any Age!

Learning to swim is not just for kids. Learning to swim is a gift for life…no matter what stage of life you are in. Learning to swim as an adult opens a whole new world of fun and fitness that will last a lifetime.

From the fear of water to novice swimmers to needing to learn basic strokes for fitness to more advanced stroke proficiency, Adult Swim Lessons at the JCC can help you achieve your goals. Come swim with us!

Lesson Options

Adult Beginner – Group Swim Classes

This class is designed to teach you the basics of swimming to feel comfortable and confident in the water. 

Class objectives

  • Enter the pool safely
  • Float on front and back
  • Learn basic strokes on the front and back
  • Tread water

Class schedule:

  • Mondays and Wednesdays, 7 – 8 pm. | March 18th – April 10th

Adult Intermediate – Group Swim Classes

Once you know the basics of swimming, this class is designed to develop proper techniques for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. 

Class objectives

  • Breathing techniques on the side and stomach.
  • Learn efficient techniques for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly
  • Learn to use paddles, buoys, fins, and snorkel
  • Learn how to lap swim efficiently and effectively

Class schedule:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 – 8 pm. | March 19th – April 9th

Meet the Instructor

Cliff Ellman was born and raised in South Africa. He came to the United States to swim on the University of Texas swim team. He has been swimming his whole life and, for the past 10 years, has been teaching adults to learn to love the water as much as he does. His passion is to help students embrace the water, feel comfortable, be safe, and have fun around water.
