Dear Theater Parents,
Take a Breath and Dig Deep
After last week’s rehearsal I am sure most of our budding actors' minds were spinning. Rehearsals are much more intense and for the next couple of weeks they will have your kids “working” from start to finish. What does this mean for your child? It means we highly encourage them to do their work at home (reviewing their lines, going over choreography, even just listening to the music while doing another activity), take care of themselves (eat well, hydrate, drink some tea with honey, and SLEEP), and most of all get themselves in the mindset that every part of them needs to be “on” when they get into rehearsal.
Being in a show takes a lot of work and dedication and our actors are doing great! Our program is unique for many reasons but one of the biggest ways we stand out from the rest is that we really try and educate our kids and parents on all of the elements that are required to be on the stage. Life lessons are taught through every rehearsal and every moment on the stage. We are teaching to inquire when not sure, listen when your peers are talking, help out because everyone is part of the team, and most of all every person matters, so respect the craft and respect one another. The journey continues and the stakes will get higher as we move into this next week of rehearsal. Therefore, please help our JPAS stars take a breath and dig deep. I am so proud of them!
