Dear Theater Families,
Our actors have been working hard and we are super proud of them. We are well past the half-way mark in our rehearsal journey. Just three weeks before the Green Cast’s first performance. What does this mean? A few things; a lot of things actually! Tons of excitement is starting to brew, nerves will come into play soon, self-care becomes very important, and REHEARSING AT HOME is key! I strongly urge you to ask your actors to practice their lines, sing their songs, and watch and practice the choreography videos at least three times during the week. These videos can be found on our resource library. Remember to please share with our actors our resource library link. The resource library is where we have placed recordings of music learned each week from songs and choreography learned.
Behind the Scenes from Sunday's Rehearsal
Rehearsal: Sunday, March 5
Rehearsal will start promptly for the Blue cast at 1:30 pm. Green cast has an early call time of 12:30 pm. Please note, the actors will have their costumes fitted earlier; see below. Everyone will meet in Zale Auditorium. Pick-up will be at 5:30 pm in the lobby.
Healthy Snacks Only
Actors will not be allowed to use the vending machines; please pack a healthy snack. There is a noticeable difference in their focus and concentration when they are eating healthy snacks. We need them to focus.
Special Note to Parents
- The Green cast will be fitted for their costumes Sunday, March 5. Please refer to the email I sent that referenced the specific times your actor needs to arrive at the J for their fitting. Please meet in the dressing rooms.
- It is important for your children NOT to miss rehearsal. We are at a critical point in the show process where everyone's participation is needed. Please keep this in mind. If you are to miss rehearsal, PLEASE follow the procedure which is to email Alise in advance and let her know.
- It’s time to SELL, SELL, SELL. We greatly appreciate your help in selling tickets to Shrek JR. I have 10 more yard signs and a few more flyers for those who requested them. Please meet me in the lobby at the rounder at 5:15 pm on Sunday to pick the items you would like. We will be sending out a media kit by the end of the week with ways to send emails to friends and family, along with posts for Facebook and Instagram. Word-of-mouth is the ultimate way to sell tickets. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
- Complimentary Tickets - all families will receive 1 complimentary ticket. You can pick it up starting this Sunday at the front desk. Those of you who sent me their bios early, and received an email from me that you will receive an additional complimentary ticket, you can pick that one up as well at the front desk.
Kids are Marketers Too!
I've received some wonderful feedback about our actors feeling empowered by handing out their small flyers! Keep the stories coming; I love them. If your child has not handed their flyers out yet, please encourage them to bring them to school, give them to their friends/teachers or hand them out to your neighbors or at another one of their after school activities. This exercise is beyond marketing the performances. This small act teaches our actors to take ownership of their "work", to speak out when otherwise shy, to learn a "behind-the-scenes" skill, and ultimately, a sense of pride in something they are committed to.
