Our Studio Spaces will bring some of the children’s favorite learning experiences from the classrooms to a whole new level! The Studios provide children with plenty of time and space to fully immerse themselves in their work, leading to greater explorations and understandings. Each studio will be available to a single class for an entire week, allowing children to visit in small groups and return to their work the following day. These spaces will inspire new thinking, ignite creativity, and allow for a deeper dive into the children’s interests.

city planning

City Planning Studio

The City Planning Studio is a place where children can channel their architectural and engineering skills as they work to design structures, roads, bridges and more! Children can draw up their plans at the sketching table or jump straight in to the construction stage with wooden blocks, train tracks, community buildings and other supplies for creating the greatest city ever!

legos

Lego Studio

Legos are a beloved childhood toy that offer children countless opportunities for creativity and innovation. The Lego Studio is filled with thousands of Lego bricks as well as those specialty pieces needed for building more complex and interesting creations. This is truly a space where children’s imaginations can dream up anything and the Legos will be there to build it!

cardboard2

Cardboard Studio

If you have ever seen a child play with a cardboard box, you know there is something magical that happens! Ever wonder what they would do if they had dozens of boxes to work with? The Cardboard Studio will be a place where children can explore all the possibilities of cardboard boxes: from creating forts, to assembling a train, or blasting off in a space ship, this studio can be anything the children want it to be!

Sculpture

Sculpture Studio

The Sculpture studio will be all about clay! Children will explore the properties of the medium, develop an understanding for how it works, and learn techniques for using clay to create different sculptures. Other materials and tools like wire, rollers, and texture carvers will be introduced over time for children to add details and fine tune their unique creations!

loose parts

Loose Parts Studio

Loose parts are open-ended and intriguing materials that have various potential uses, resulting in unlimited possibilities for play. Children visiting the Loose Parts Studio will be invited to experiment with materials that challenge them to think critically and to expand their understandings of how things work. The beauty of working with loose parts is there is no wrong or right way to use them so really, anything can happen!

storytelling

Storytelling Studio

Children are storytellers by nature, often acting out their favorite stories in dramatic play or making up silly stories during lunch time. The Storytelling Studio will be a place for stories to come to life! Filled with puppets, books, a dollhouse, story stones, and writing materials, children will be able to tell their stories in endless ways!

woodworking

Woodworking Studio

Woodworking is an empowering skill for young children to develop. They enjoy working with the tools and watching the pieces of wood transform into something from their imagination. The Woodworking Studio will be set up as a place for our children 3 years and older to practice using actual tools like hammers and screwdrivers, building their skills up before moving on to creating something with wood!

textile

Textiles Studio

The Textile Studio will focus on the textile art techniques of weaving and embroidery. Children will hone their skills with the different methods using the actual tools of textile artists, like weaving looms, embroidery hoops and frames, and child-safe sewing needles paired with yarns and fabrics.

light

Lights and Shadows Studio

Shadows are some of the most fascinating things to young children! You can find them playing with their own shadows on bright summer days or creating shadow puppets in their beds at night. The Light and Shadow Studio creates a space where children can experiment more with how shadows work. A room filled with twinkling fairy lights, light tables and projectors, and all kinds of translucent materials for casting shadows, this studio will bring to life all the magical properties of light.

music

Music and Movement Studio

The Music and Movement Studio is designed as a place for our toddlers and 2-year-olds to explore the different ways their bodies can move. Children will experiment with the sounds of instruments, both traditional and hand-made, and dance to the rhythms of music from all over the world as they discover the joy that is performing arts.

paint

Paint Studio

Painting is sometimes a child’s first introduction to art and is often a favorite form of expression. The Paint Studio will offer new perspectives with painting as well as new techniques. Children will be invited to paint on various surfaces, explore the many different types of paint, and even practice the amazing process of acrylic pour painting!

swim girl

The Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy offers weekly swim lessons to the students (ages 3+) of the Goldberg Early Childhood Center. These lessons are built into the GFECC curriculum and use the same SwimRight Method® as the swim academy. This builds a uniform platform for students who may take LKSA lessons in concert with their weekly lessons or may choose to continue their skills after they graduate from preschool.

The lessons are conducted by Coach Lia Oberstar-Brown, a former competitive swimmer who swam with the likes of Lenny Krayzelburg himself. Coach Lia brings years of experience in swim instruction of all ages and has a teaching style that motivates all children to learn.

The LKSA also offers lessons as an enrichment option for GFECC students Monday through Friday, 1 pm-6 pm. LKSA lessons are for ages 2+ and the preschool lessons are ages 3+.

Students can be picked up directly from their classrooms to go to their lessons. After the lesson, students may be picked up by a parent or guardian or returned to their classroom.

To set up lessons or a pick-up, please call Adriana Martinez, 214-239-7197 or amartinez@jccdallas.org
