The J Early Childhood Center takes the privilege of caring for your child very seriously. Our teachers provide a nurturing environment so every child feels accepted and valued. The sense of warmth and nurturing can be felt as soon as you step into our school or talk with any of our caring staff.
Tara Sutker Ohayon
Director of Early Childhood Education
Tara has been a part of the JCC community since she was three years old. Tara grew up at our J camps, going on to work every summer while pursuing a degree in Special Education and teaching in the Plano school district before returning "home" to the J eight years ago.Tara has been recognized as a gifted parent educator, worker with children and master trainer of staff.She is committed to giving each child an early childhood experience that allows them to enjoy their childhood while being prepared for the next level in their education.
Director of Camping and Youth Services
Laura, "The Shabbat Lady," is the Jewish educator for the J Early Childhood Center. She goes to each class for "Torah with Laura." In addition, she coordinates and teaches "An Ethical Start," a unique program developed by JCCA that teaches ethical values to young children. Laura also teaches staff and parents in our school.
GFECC Curriculum Coordinator
Lisa has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education for more than 18 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Child Development at the University of Oklahoma and her Master’s degree in Health Administration and Supervision at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Currently, she is in the process of finishing up her Doctorate of Education in Early Childhood Education at the University of North Texas.
GFECC Program Coordinator
Cynthia graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Cynthia has worked at the J Early Childhood Center for 25 years. She is the Music Specialist, Mommy & Me Coordinator and Director of Camp Simchah.
Tammy wears many hats at the J, and each one is more creative than the next. Tammy is our Discovery and Movement Specialist, Loft Coordinator, Enrichment Director and Birthday Party Coordinator. Tammy grew up in Dallas and was excited to return to the J preschool over ten years ago. Her creative nature led to planning special activities for children, from art to science to nature and more. All of the kids love learning from Tammy because everything is hands on. Call Tammy to plan a special party or to take part in a fantastic enrichment class.
Suzi has been teaching tap, ballet, jazz and tumbling in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for more than 20 years. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dance with a minor in Drama from Texas Woman’s University and has been teaching dance at the J for ten years. Her love for dance and children are a perfect combination for a great foundation for your child and their first years in dance. Suzi continues her training at dance conventions and workshops throughout the metroplex. She also directs Dance Camps at the J for preschool through school-aged children during the summer.
