Bebe & Me Yoga
Wednesday, August 8 | 11 am (Tycher Library)
Join us for this special session where you can nurture your baby while caring for yourself. This class invites babies and their caregivers (moms, dads, grandparents, nannies) to bond with bebes and get a practice in for yourselves. The class is a nurturing and strengthening practice designed specifically for your postnatal body and spirit. Cheryl Johnson, Ayurvedic Doula and Owner of OmBalance Yoga, will take you through gentle poses with your baby and leave both of you feeling rejuvenated and more connected. Expecting mamas can benefit greatly from this session as well!
Mom to Mom
Wednesday, August 22 | 11 am (Texas Room)
This session is all about connecting with your fellow mama (or dada!). We will begin by inviting each participant to be our "speaker" of the day and share a little more about themselves including: what you do when you're not being a mom, your birth story, funny quirks about your baby, and your biggest struggle in motherhood thus far. The idea is for all of us to get to know each other better. And, if you don't want to share...no problem! Stick around for a fun and memorable activity at the end. You will each be able to create a salt dough footprint of your baby to take home and cherish.
Moving Into Motherhood with Ayurveda!
Wednesday, September 12 | 11 am (Tycher Library)
The birth of a child is the birth of Motherhood and is one of the most beautiful and sacred experiences. A mother opens her heart to nourish herself which in turn nourishes her baby, this is even more important than when she was pregnant. She finds strength to ask for support from community, friends and family. Ayurveda provides a clear understanding of how to nurture and support our journey into the birth of motherhood. Ayurvedic Health Practitioner and owner of SimpleVeda, Christina Vargas, will host this workshop that will help you:
- Learn to incorporate the Ayurvedic postpartum regimens to rejuvenate and nourish the new mom and baby
- Learn what foods, herbs, spices and lifestyle choices are important for postpartum and how these can prevent postpartum depression + anxiety
- Practice self-massage for new mothers and babies
- Learn about the best foods and herbs to support lactation
- Understand how to get the most rest and nourishment
- A light ayurvedic snack will be offered
Mondays - 10 - 10:45 am (Tycher Library)
Studies show that infants as young as a couple of months old are fascinated by surprises and have a natural curiosity to figure out what causes unexpected reactions. This class is designed to encourage you and your child to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) materials and concepts together and use surprising provocations as a springboard to investigation. From block play, to rolling and ramps, to exploring colors and shapes, this class will engage you and your baby in the early stages of experimentation.
