Ellen Bond, 2016 - 17 PTO Co-Chair
Welcome to the 2016 - 2017 GFECC school year. I am honored to serve again as a PTO Co-Chair with Liz Howayeck, Sarah Rosen, and Sandy Somer. We have so many exciting activities to help this year be a great one.
The activities that fall under my position are Back to School Bash, PTO Meet and Greets, Mom’s and Dad’s Breakfast, Grandparents Day, and Holiday Bags. All are events bringing us parents and grandparents together to celebrate our kids and to get to know each other.
Our family has been part of the GFECC family since January 2011 when our daughter started at 1 years old. She graduated from the GFECC two years ago and our son, who started when he was 1 years old, is in the Three’s this year. I work part-time (which feels like full-time) as a geotechnical engineer for a small engineering firm in Dallas and my husband, Ari, is a commercial banker with Wells Fargo. The GFECC is truly part of our family and have been the best support system we could have hoped for.
I look forward to getting to know you all over this next school year and working together to help the GFECC.
Liz Howayeck, 2016 - 17 PTO Co-Chair
Hi Fellow GFECC Families! I’m so excited for the upcoming school year and I am honored to be able serve as a PTO Co-Chair with Ellen, Sandy, and Sarah for 2016 - 2017!
My daughter, Avery, is in Pre-K this year. We were very thankful to find the GFECC two years ago when we moved to Dallas from Atlanta. The school made that transition so much easier. I’m looking forward to meeting many more of you from our “school family” this coming year.
I will be doing Communications for the PTO. This means that I will not be actively recruiting volunteers to help with my committee, so no need to avoid making eye contact with me at drop-off.
Sarah Rosen, 2016 - 17 PTO Co-Chair
I have the distinct privilege of Co-Chairing the 2016 - 2017 Goldberg Family Early Childhood Center (GFECC) PTO, along with Ellen Bond, Sandy Somer, and Liz Howayeck. My Co-Chairs are nothing shy of exceptional so I have no doubt that this is going to be a spectacular year for our PTO.
My goal this year is to make you feel like the GFECC is a part of your family, because it’s certainly a part of mine. I started taking Mommy & Me classes at the GFECC with my daughter Adena in 2010 and I was hooked! I knew that she was destined to be one of the esteemed graduates of this extraordinary school. While my daughter was wrapping up her Pre-K year, my son Adam was rocking out in his Mommy & Me class. He is now proudly entering Pre-K. Bring on the tissues!
I am a spunky gal who could use some fun-loving parents to help me show my Co-Chairs that “my team” is the team to beat. This year, I will be spearheading the following:
- Book Fair
- Teacher Appreciation Related Activities/Events
- Family Get-Togethers and Parents-Only Socials
Please sign up to be a committee chair or a volunteer for one of the above categories. No seriously, sign up! I promise you good times and lots of laughs.
I wish you all an amazing 2016 - 2017 school year and I can’t wait to work with you.
Sandy Somer, 2016 - 17 PTO Co-Chair
Hello GFECC Families! I'm so excited to be a 2016 - 2017 PTO Co-Chair this year with Ellen, Liz, and Sarah.
Our twin daughters, Jenna and Katie, started with Mommy & Me and my husband and I couldn't imagine sending them to preschool anywhere else. We continued with the three-day Two's and loved it so much that we "upgraded" to the five-day Three's when it was time. Our girls are currently in Pre-K.
Getting involved with PTO has been a great way for me to meet so many GFECC families and contribute to the family feeling that our school provides.
I will be chairing the following divisions this year and I hope that you will consider volunteering:
- Room Parents
- Challah delivery
- Hot lunches
- End-of-year teacher gifts
I would love your help and ideas and hope that I get to meet you (if I don't know you already) in August.
