clientuploads/Cultural/Michelle Courtney2.jpgMichelle Courtney SchwartzAfter studying with some of the nation’s top acting teachers and Shakespeare scholars, Michelle is very excited to bring her expertise to the JCC. Appearing as Hermione in this season’s Shakespeare Dallas production of The Winter’s Tale (September 19-October 13), Michelle believes that the best way to understand Shakespeare, is through acting it. After receiving her BFA from the Professional Actor’s Training Program at the State University of New York @ Purchase, Michelle went on to act on Broadway, as well as appear on TV (NBC’s The West Wing), and film. Theatre and the craft of acting, however, have always remained her first love. She has discovered that by continuing to teach what she loves, she can hopefully pass down that same enthusiasm to enrich young live and guide our youth into discovering their artistic potential. In addition to teaching privately in Los Angeles, Michelle spent several years as a high school theatre teacher where she coached students into top theatre institutions, including Juilliard, SUNY-Purchase, CalArts, Carnegie-Melon, North Carolina School of the Arts, and NYU, as well as nationally recognized ARTS finalists and Presidential Scholars.
