Seniors Volunteer Opportunities

Do you have an hour every week…to read a story, to hold a child in your lap, to play a game, to be loved?   Imagine sitting in the J lobby and having 12 little children shouting out, “Hi, Grandma.  Are you coming to see us soon?”

We need you to adopt a class and they will adopt you
Classes – Toddlers to Pre K:  4 toddlers, 5 two year olds, 4 three year olds, and 3 Pre K classes.

Requirements:

1.    Willing to give an hour a week (or more) – schedule to be arranged with teachers (Times: 9:30 – 12:30)

2.    Interview with Laura Seymour

3.    Take part in a training class – 1 ½ hours

4.    Background check

Kosher Lunch Program

Come join us for delicious and nutritious hot kosher lunches in a friendly, sociable environment. Meet new friends or catch up with current friends. Lunches are served four times weeklyMonday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 12 noon for everyone age 60 or better for a suggested contribution of $3.50. These lunches are supported in part by the Dallas Area Agency on Aging, the Texas Department on Aging and Disability Services, and the JCC. Call the Senior Adult Department office by 10:00 a.m. on the day you wish to eat to make a reservation.

All food is prepared by our chefs, James Birdine and Bobby Potter, and is supervised by Dallas Kosher. This program serves everyone without discrimination regarding race, creed, color, sex, age, ancestry, national origin, religion or handicap.
