Teen Mitzvah Corps
The Teen Mitzvah Corps is an 8-month program (September - May) where a select group of 7th & 8th graders will spend one Sunday a month volunteering. Each month we will highlight a different organization that benefits the Dallas Community. Each session will be at least two hours; the first hour will be spent learning about the organization and how they serve the community, the second hour will be spent doing hands-on volunteer work.
During these nine months, teens will be developing leadership skills, networking, and have the opportunity to see first-hand how these organizations impact our community.
Online registration is now closed.
If you are interested in getting your teen involved with the Teen Mitzvah Corps, please contact Abbii Cook at [email protected].
Please note that all dates are subject to change based on availability of organizations. Additional volunteer opportunities may come up throughout the year as well.
More TMC Information
Teens may miss one session per semester.
Some of the types of volunteering we will be doing:
- Working with animals
- Working with children in need
- Working with teens or adults with special needs
- Working with the homeless
Another element of this program is that you will be learning how to give not just your time, but monetarily as well. How does one choose which organization to give to, how does one decide how much to give? The teens will meet with a donor specialist who will walk them through this process. The teens will then decide how to allocate a group gift to an organization.
The cost of this 8-month program is $160 for J members and $200 for non-members. This covers a Mitzvah Corps t-shirt, supplies, and the gift the teens will be allocating at the end of the nine months.
