A message from our Directors

Dear JPAS Families,
As we open the curtain on another JPAS season, I find myself thinking about what we’re really creating here.
Of course, we’re creating theater. There will be costumes and sets, music and choreography, rehearsals and performances. Our students will learn lines, develop their voices, strengthen their technique, and experience the incredible feeling of bringing a story to life together.
But the show has never been the most important thing we build.
It’s the people.
At JPAS, we believe the arts are an extraordinary vehicle for helping young people discover who they are. They learn to show up, take risks, collaborate, persevere, trust themselves and one another, and become part of something bigger than themselves. Most importantly, we want every child who walks through our doors to know that they matter and that they belong.
That’s why Aladdin JR feels like such a meaningful story for us this season. Beneath all the adventure, humor, music, and magic is a young person who believes he needs to become someone else in order to be worthy — only to discover that who he is has been enough all along.
That message feels very JPAS.
Our extraordinary team of theater professionals will challenge our students artistically and help them grow as performers. But alongside that training, we’re intentionally building confidence, creativity, resilience, connection, and community.
Years from now, our students may not remember every line they spoke or every step of choreography. But I hope they remember how it felt to stand on The J stage and be brave. To have people believe in them. To find their people. To contribute something uniquely theirs to something bigger than themselves.
I hope they remember how it felt to belong. Because to me, that is the real magic of theater.
As we begin our journey with Aladdin JR, I couldn’t be more excited for everything we will create together — both on The J stage and far beyond it.
Thank you for trusting us with your children and for being such an important part of our JPAS community.
With gratitude,
