Where Tennis Brings Community Together
Whether you’re picking up a racquet for the first time or competing at an advanced level, The J offers programs for every age and ability. Learn from experienced professionals, improve your game, and become part of a welcoming community both on and off the court.
Tennis Programs This Season
Stay active, sharpen your skills, and enjoy the game with programs for every level. From energetic Open Drills and Cardio Tennis to league play and social events, there’s always a way to get on court and connect with other players. Junior players have their own page under Junior Tennis.
Open Drills Calendar
Our level-based Open Drills offer a fun, energetic way to get on court, improve your game, and play with others. Offerings include skill- and match-play focused drills as well as Cardio Tennis, with plenty of movement, repetition, and live-ball play. Tap a day to see the drills and register.
Open Drill Registration & Cancellation Policy
- A minimum of one player must be registered by 6:00 PM the evening before an Open Drill for the drill to take place.
- If fewer than three players are registered, the drill may be shortened to one hour at the regular drill fee, at the pro’s discretion.
- Players may cancel before 6:00 PM the evening prior without being charged. Cancellations after 6:00 PM are charged the full drill fee.
Which Drill Is Right for Me?
Not sure which level or drill is the best fit? We’re happy to help. Email Neil Kenner at nkenner@jccdallas.org to talk through your playing experience or schedule a complimentary 15-minute evaluation with one of our pros, who will recommend the right level and programs for you.

Leagues and Team Tennis
The J is proud to serve as the home for adult teams competing in TCD, USTA, Metroplex, and pickleball leagues throughout the Dallas area. League offerings vary by season, level, and availability. Interested in joining a team or learning about current opportunities? Contact Sarah Montgomery at smontgomery@jccdallas.org.
Special Events
Throughout the year, Racquet Sports offers social mixers, specialty drills and clinics, preseason tune-ups, themed events, and other fun opportunities to get together on the court.
Private Lessons and Group Drills
Get personalized instruction tailored to your game, goals, and schedule. Work one-on-one with one of our Racquet Sports professionals, or organize a private group with friends or players of similar levels and goals.
Private groups are coordinated directly with a pro, allowing you to customize the focus, schedule, and group to fit your needs.
What’s a Private Group?
Unlike an Open Drill, a Private Group is organized by you and your group and scheduled directly with a pro. This allows you to choose your group, schedule, and areas of focus.
Request a lesson or group drill
Email Neil Kenner at nkenner@jccdallas.org and he’ll connect you with the right pro.

Drills and leagues use NTRP-style ratings. Pick the one that describes your game most days, not your best day.

Learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. Can sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability.
Fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but strokes lack execution when trying for directional control, depth, or power. Needs work on depth and variety.
Improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. Starting to exhibit more aggressive net play and has improved court coverage.
Dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots, and volleys with some success. Rallies may be lost due to impatience.
Starting to master the use of power and spins; can handle pace, has sound footwork, can control depth of shots, and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents. Can hit first serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve.
